The new Siemens factory in Goole has secured an order for new trains to run on the Piccadilly Line of the London Underground. The order, worth £1.5 billion, is for 94 trains but there is the possibility that further orders will be received in the coming years.

Responding to the announcement David Davis MP said:

“This is excellent news for both my constituency and the wider Yorkshire area. It will create jobs across the region, especially for the highly skilled workers in Haltemprice and Howden.

The possibility that more of London Underground’s trains could be built at the plant in the future means this has the potential to become a major industry in the area for years to come which will provide the vital skills and investment required across Yorkshire.”
