David continues to campaign for scrapping of the “Caravan tax” as members present petition
David, together with other East Yorkshire MPs, continued to campaign for a scrapping of the so-called “caravan tax” which- it is feared- will seriously harm the local caravan manufacturing industry, which constitutes up to 95% of all British production. A petition demanding the scrapping of the tax, with thousands of local signatures, was presented to Parliament, demonstrating the scale of public disapproval in East Yorkshire
MPs and local businessmen believe that the extra costs in unemployment alone- which would result from the caravan tax- would more than outweigh any revenue gains to the Treasury, and it is therefore unsurprising that thousands of local people have signed petitions and made clear their opposition to the government’s plans.
