David appeared on BBC Radio 4’s World at One, and gave his view that, however unfairly, many voters see the Conservative leadership as “in a different world to them” following changes to child benefit, the so-called “granny tax” and “pasty tax”.

He continued that the Prime Minister needed to “get a grip” in order to convince ordinary voters that he shared their fears and aspirations.
